Bloomington North administration reports anti-semitic, racist vandalism

News-filler

Anti-semitic and racist vandalism was found Wednesday written in pen, pencil and marker on bathroom partition walls at Bloomington High School North.

The vandalism was reported to the Bloomington Police Department around 9:30 p.m. Thursday by Principal Andrea Mobley.

Custodial staff found the words “kill all Jews” and the letters “KKK," along with other writings Jan. 9. They immediately removed it, according to an email Mobley sent to parents Friday.

BPD Lt. John Kovach said surveillance footage was checked, but there were too many students coming and going from the bathroom to determine a suspect.

Mobley said in the email that security and faculty will monitor restrooms frequently and that they are trying their best to identify who was responsible.

She said the BHSN Faculty Equality Team will follow up with teachers about how to have conversations with students about diversity and acceptance.

“It is disappointing that any student would engage in this type of behavior and it is not representative of the entire student body,” she said. “We want to ensure that all students, faculty and staff feel welcome and supported by all.”
